Default removing, reinstalling aftermarket receiver

I have a crappy old Alpine in-dash CD player in my '96 stang. I am going to upgrade a little bit, but have a question (I've looked online, but couldn't find an answer); how difficult is it to install an aftermarket CD player if you already have an aftermarket CD player installed? I would find something the same size, so that shouldn't be an issue; but would the wiring harnesses match up ok? Furthermore, how the heck do I take the receiver out that's already in there?

Thanks!
Kristina

Edit: I think I'm going to pick up this unit: http://www.cardomain.com/item/BLAMBEACHCD52?vq_id=none
along with this adapter http://www.cardomain.com/shop/item.pl?sku=BLAAUX1RCA
so I can hook up a portable MD unit. I must have this auxiliary input for that However, where the heck, if this is coming from the back of the head, would I put the adapter lead? Can I somehow have it come out in my glovebox or something? What's easy?

you have to have a special tool to get back in there and pull it out of the brace. If you take it to an audio shop and ask them to pull it out for ya they should do it no charge, ecspecially for a chick. That should save you the few bucks it costs for the tool.

I have a pioneer. I just changed mine out last night. I had the same thing you do an old junky one. I just took the old one out, the new one came with removal tools, Hooked up all the wires to the harness the new one came with put it in and bam it works.. Very easy took maybe 20 mins. I would recomend pioneer i got mine for about 160 and i love it, came with everything you will need to do the job.

Cool, thank you guys very much for the answers.

I'm not going to go ask someone to take it out for me, I hate trying to get stuff for free Hopefully it will be as easy for me to do as it was for 95stang.

Anyone have an idea where I can put the aux adapter lead?

Thanks,
Kristina
