Default $500 gift card from Bestbuy - what should I get?

Hi, I have a $500 gift card to best buy and was thinking of replacing my entire stock Mach 460 system (head unit, speakers, amps, the lot) in my 2003 GT Coupe.

Is $500 enough to get all the parts i need? I will be able to do the install my self. Will I end up with a really good system at the end? I mostly listen to alternative, metal (loud) and some dance music (need base)

Any advice would be greatly appreciate, I havn't a clue about audio equipment.
Thanks,
C

you wont be able to get a quality system for that price. especially from best buy. i say you just buy the headunit and speakers from bestbuy and then shop around for your amp and sub. the subs suck in bestbuy and iono about the amps. just use the 500 on the speakers and headunit. but all in all it will probly cost more then 500. my system costed about 600 and i kept the stock speakers. your sound to the stock speakers really change with a head unit. you might be suprised.

Get a nice headunit like the pioneer 9700 or better yet a double din... if you don't find anything you like then get a Viper 791xv with remote start!

Thanks for all the input lads, seems Best Buy only has a load of ****e so I think I will just use the card to get a good IPod for the headunit I get online.
As for power adders and gears? That story has already been written, getting ready to start buying the end of this month starting with LMII catback, MGW sts, K&N fipk. After that suspension, gears, gauges, wheels/tires
