If you budget is only $700 Then go with Pioneer D3. If you can't settle for dinnner settle for lunch. I spent $1199 on my Pioneer D2 I believe it was well worth it also look me 50 phones calls to find one in stock because they are being pushed out due to the new D3. I'm sure if your look hard enought online you'll be able to find a D2 if you really wanted one... Whatever you buy you'll be happy toys are toys... =)

I have owned a Pioneer flip-out, Eclipse DD and now an AVIC-D3. The D3 is definitely the best unit for me. I have a 60GB iPod with over 7000 songs. The D3 iPod controls are fantastic. I have driven with the D3 on a couple very long drives(over 1k miles). The route you currently have will auto store into memory when you remove the disc. It's also very easy to bypass the parking brake controls with the D3. It's as simple as moving a wire in the connector. I also love the BlueTooth module on the D3. If you don't have an iPod and spend a lot of time changing CDs then I don't know how big of a deal the single drive would be. For me, it's has not been an issue at all. I have not once thought, damn I hate this single drive. I really don't see how you could find a better unit for the same price. One other cool thing with the D3 is that you can change the button illumination to match your dash lighting. There are the standard colors and you can also do a custom color. It is a great feature when you have the custom dash color in the Mustang.

How is the sound quality of the D3 in comparison to the Shaker 500? Better, worse, the same? Does the D3 replace the Shaker 500 watt amplifier or is the amplifier seperate from the Radio/CD unit?

[QUOTE=marcuskeeler;3468019]Having to remove the Nav disk to play DVD or Audio CD IS just GAY. Therefore, the 2 disk system would win in comparison everytime. It amazes me that any company would even make a one disk system when the NAV info needs a drive. QUOTE]
It's because nowadays more people rely on Ipods or other MP3's to store their music. Carrying around a huge CD case compared to having access to 7000+ songs at the touch of a button...hmmm no brainer there. I don't know why someone wouldnt burn their music CD's to an Ipod, but that's just me.
