Is the vehicle speed wire going to the back of the stock radio a different signal than the VSS wire from the PCM? I am connecting a f series nav unit.

popping is due to the fact that most factory Ford stereos only send a 5 volt turn on signal to the sub amp.
All aftermarket radios have 12 volt remote outputs.
To avoid the pop, you will need to add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator in line on the remote lead.
It can be purchased at any Radio Shack, the part number is 276-1770.

This might be a re-post. But if you use a 1.5k ohm resister on the remote line it fixes the problem, is cheaper and easier.

Do you think using a smaller gauge wire will adversely effect it? I thought about using an old audio connector for a desktop. the wires in that (the pins line up great) I believe are 28AWG and rated for 300V and 80*C. I think it should work fine but jsut want to double check

can anyone confirm if the harness wiring procedures are the same for newer AVIC units?

I know I'm bringing up an old post but can anyone tell me what makes this easier to install?
