Portable GPS Units
Hi guys,
I will be traveling across the country in the next few weeks and would like to purchase a good GPS system. I DO NOT want it installed, I would like a portable one.
Any recommendations? I'm looking at the Garmin Nuvi 350 at the moment. Any opinions on this or others like it?
Thanks!

RE: Portable GPS Units
Any of the Garmins are going to be good. The garmin spc 340 and up will tell you the street names. The Nuvi 350 will tell you the street names and has a mp3 player, it does not have bluetooth though. I know all this because I sell them at Circuit City everyday.

RE: Portable GPS Units
Garmin Nuvi series is a very good choice. My grandparents and parents both have the Garmin 350 and couldn't be happier. I personally own the Garmin Nuvi 660 (I wanted the larger screen). Love the unit, haven't had any problems with it as of yet.

sweet stang, hit me up if yer near phoenix and we can go race er something.....
Do ya have verizon?
I had been looking at a couple of different systems but then my mother showed me how she learned to use the verixon wireless gps stuff. It was really strange to have her show me because she is still learning email but as far as I am concerned that is the way I will go. It is only $3 a day to use or $10 a month for a unlimited subscription. Where I live in phoenix was nothing but farmland 2 yrs ago and now they are about to unvail the states largest mall. Any of the regular units would require updates by me to be able to keep up with all the stuff they are adding out here but that system updates itself regularly. And as far as ease of use, did I mention my mother showed me how to use it????

RE: Portable GPS Units
Thanks everyone. I went for the Garmin nuvi 660 after reading your posts, several other reviews and checking it and the 360 out at Circuit City. Heck of a deal through Amazon for those who might be interested.
ttocs: no I don't have Verizon and have another year to go on my Cingular (now AT&T) contract. But that is very helpful info and I will keep it in mind come contract renewal time.
Thanks again guys. Really appreciate your help.
