Default $600 for new sound system...Help

I need a new deck and front/rear speakers with amp. dont have the space or cash for a sub, so the best valued 3-way speaker for the rear would help. I'll prbably go with polk db571's for the front and i was thinking the pioneer tsa6881r's for the rear. not sure on the amp or deck yet, but would like something that could play dvd-r's for MP3s. my mustang is an 06 with the basic factory sound system.

focal 165 A1 front components(have these speakers amazing)($170)
you could go with coaxials like polk momo 5x7($110) or cdt 5.25 ($80)midrange driver w/e you want
and a pioneer premier 590iB ($190)
jbl cs60.4 amp($105)
then put it in yourself and save up for a sub
and why do you need it to play dvd-r why dont you just burn cd-r if you have the right burning program like roxio you could put like 100 songs on a cd-r

With that kind of money you should be able to put together a decent system.

Your best bet would be to get a 6.5 in comp set for the front and some 6x8/5x7 mids for the rear and run them low passed to around 500 hz.

What type of music do you listen too? Do you care more about loudness or quality?

I like metal music, but I listen to lots of stuff. I was looking at some pioneer 4-ways for the front because i dont want to cut up the dash to fit new speakers into and the same for the rear. I purchased a Jensen 9312 dvd for the dash. I was thinking of the dvd-r'sbecause you can burn more mp3's on to them than a cd-r. If there are programs that can pack more mp3's on a cd-r than Nero, I would like to know what they are. I would like to run a sub, but dont want to put a box in the trunk. They take up too much room. any idea where to place it (I was thinking of a single 10" between the two rear speakers in the dash).

hmmm..yea u could get a pretty descent stereo system for 600 bucks...but yea i would recommend either Focal speakers or Polk Audio Speakers. Those are both great for rock or metal music
