Default Single 12" Sub in 03 Trunk

Alrigh, I've been trying forever to get a box designed for a single 12" Fi BTL (fully loaded) to put in my trunk. From what I can tell (measure), I'd have to put the box in from the back seat and I'd be limiting my dimensions to 28wx26dx13h. I'd like a design for a ported box, but can't seem to figure out the right design to tune it to 35Hz with it mounted facing up. Any ideas?

Remove the rear seat and you can get a bigger box in.

I built a box for a similar body style for a image dynamics 12 and it just barely fit when I was done. I can't remember the dimensions(this was looong ago) but what are you having problems with?

VCS, 13" height is with the seats removed (barely get 12" with the seats in).

ttocs, I'm trying to get a ported box built for the Fi BTL 12" sub (dual 1 ohm). My dimensions being limited to 28x26x13, it seems that the sub will have to face up. Now I need to figure out how to design the box with the sub facing up, and I'm not sure which way to face the port and have it tuned to 32-35Hz. In addition, I need a diagram of the box so I know how to build it.

Ok, follow me with the math.

I assume you give me the dimensions in inches right?

28" is 2.3ft
26" is 2.16 ft
and 13" is 1.08ft
To get the external volume of that shape you multiply them together to get a total of nearly 5.5 cubic feet of space....... Now you would loose space when you subtrace the magnet displacment and the thickness of the wood for the internal dimensions but dear god what kind of box are you building? 5.5 cu ft is big enough for a pair of large 15's with room to spare........

The volume was never the issue. My sub is rated for 2-3 cubic feet. I'm building a box that is 26x26x12 which gives me ~4.7 cubic feet. Internally, I'd have about 4 cubic feet after I remove the displacement by the wood and sub. What I don't know from here is how to position the port and what size to make it so that it's tuned to 35Hz.

They have a forum at that site that can help you with the box size and dimensions, I have never done anything purpose built for spl and there really are not many bassheads on here that could help. Now as far as getting a box that big into the trunk I don't know what to tell you. There are some really good shops that can do it but you will basically need to build the box in the car. Getting it done and looking good is not easy nor cheap as mustangs are just not made for spl boxes, but no car is.....
