there should be no problems mounting the speakers you have they should be a direct bolt in.

ttocs, won't he get better frequency response though with the 6.5's? I wasn't suggesting more sound as in SPL, but better response as in bass. and if he runs the 5x7's in the back and only the 3.5's in the fron high passed, where is he going to hear any bass? i'm not talking about crushing bass, but just any bass at all....
there is so much just a little off in this post. First about the bass responce in the 6.5's. NO, he will get no gains from 5 x 7 to a 6.5 and would not be able to hear the difference between the two unless they were contrastingly different speakers. The surface area of the speakers is about the same, as well as power handling and if you start talking about an oval speaker can't reproduce the sound as well as a round one then we need even more help. If he had better bass responce, he would probably have better SPL(sound pressure level is a measure of overall sound but especially bass).

Why would the rear 5 x 7's have no bass?

He has all this equipment and was happy with it enough prior to pull it all out, why are we re-inventing the wheel. Keep it simple......
I meant the 6.5 instead of the 3.5. If he only has the 3.5 in his dash and nothing in his doors and the 5x7 in the rear, i think he is going to be missing much of thebottom end. I wasn't saying the 5x7's wouldn't work! I said to use the 5x7 in the rear. Just put 6.5 in the front instead of 3.5. I think he would be much happier that way. That's all.

ok, gotcha. yes there will be a gain from going to a 3.5 to a 6.5 but I do not get the idea that this fella is out to get great or even good sound, but to make it better then the stock speakers(I could be wrong)? If budget is the 1rs priority, all of his speakers will fit and it will be an impovement from the stock speakers. There isno reason that the rear 5 x 7'scould not fill in the low end that he wants and he knows what thesystem should sound like. I would install everything you have, and then if ya want more youcan add the 6.5's.

Just tryin to save him acouple of bucks, that is why we are here right?

certain amplifiers allow you to combine the power of two channels into one channel (or mono) so that you can 1) send more power to a speaker or 2) power a subwoofer. So if you went with a 4 channel amp you could use it for the following combinations (granted it was bridgable)

1. 4 channels (front left, front right, rear left, rear right)
2. 3 channels (typically this is the setup for front left, front right and subwoofer)
3. 2 channels (more power to front left, front right)

These are just examples and give you an idea of what is possible. Thereis more than one way to skin a cat , it just depends on your needs and demands. That's all.

Also, most amplifiers will give you a guide on how to bridge the amplifier. It's simply a matter of how you run the wires.
