I think I will upgrade the factory ground if you think it would help.

JL owners manual actually says 1" MDF for sub mounting surface and 3/4" for the rest of the box. I have the perfect air space for a sealed enclosure, I just wish the car didnt rattle so much.

Im thinking about dynamat but if i crank in up a little more all I hear is bass and no rattle so I will think about it for a while.

Im going to leave the Shaker 500 alone for one reason, theft.

Ive had every single one of my previous stereos stolen in my f150:

It looks weird but thats just one URL

probably because it was a little too showy. If I change the speakers and add another amp it would be great! But whats the next logical step? -> a head unit (alpine only of course ; ) to gain better control of the system as a whole and that is what tips all theifs off.

Also, if I change the head unit, how do I keep the factory sirius antenna? And then I have to switch the stock woolfers out with the new shallow subs, then alpine type X or JL components, and it just never stops! lol

I do like the idea of upgrading the factory ground so I will give that a try, thank you,

next time you are under your hood take a look at the negative batter cable that comes off the battery and then goes to the chassis. AFter that look at the power wires that go to the alternator, and now compare those to your 2 awg and you will see where the current choke point for the factory electrical system is. Running 2 awg all the way to the cap is useless if the power and ground wires for the entire system is the usual 10 awg factory wire. Do big 3 upgrade and you will see a difference.

what for?

I have 8 speakers and 1 sub, Sirius Sat. Radio, FM/AM, 6 cd in-dash (my favorite and I have never seen a nice aftermarket one with that feature), Aux-in which I use for my I-pod, and best of all no one wants to steal it and its hard as *&#% to get out of the console. How would I re-use my sirius antenna? I'd hate to have a pointless whole in the trunk.

Love your tint Cam2904, did you tint your front windshield? I know a tint shop who will do it for cash but they dont have that cool mirror tint.

Im going to upgrade the grounds soon thnx to ttocs and then thats about it for the audio.

Speaking of which I was tuning the sub and I had just finished one song and some punk egged my car from his upstairs window, I guess Its a little too loud, lol ; )

Maybe a dumb question, but with the stock 500, how did you wire the amp? Are the pre amps in the back of the factory head unit, or a wire already in the trunk? I have an '09 with the factory shaker 500 and just dont feel like taking the unit out, if someone can tell me what i'm working with!. Sounds like youve done a little work, so thought I might ask you
