Default No frills MACH 460 replacement

OK....my head unit crapped out this month and unlike, most, I just want a very basic replacement that can replicate the OEM sound. Only interested in single CD and maybe an MP3 jack.........idk, like 50W per/channel. I know I'll need the harness and Im OK having an open slot under the head unit ( Ive read good install places have these )

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

2003 was a transition year so it is hard to know what harness is in your car. The only way we could be sure is if you were to take your radio out and take a picture of the back of it, or the harnesses in your dash.

Removing the radio is not a big deal if you have not done it.

LOL.......went and threw a guy $100 today for a MACH head unit........same exact as mine and the damn thing has the same problem: CD ERROR. So.........I got ripped off.

My deck has three harnesses, all red and all going into the same side ( left if you're looking at the unit ). Im taking my luimps and just wanting to go get a single DIN CD/MP3 player. Again.........I dont need fancy but with enough power to drive the amps. Hoping to spend as close to like $100 as possible. Opinions would be greatly appreciated............

Isnt there any way to fix that CD error stupid ass thing by opening up the unit or will it just be a waste of time???

$100 f'n dollars for a factory ford cd player!?!?!?!?!?

wow.....

There is only one way to fix it. Open up yer trash can and insert radio A into trash bin B.

There are a number of ok decks on the market now for the $125 range. page 2 of my cardomain page shows the older version of the hrns's but it would make all the difference if you could just get us a pic of the back of either radio to be sure.

OK.........heres the pic of the rear of my '03 head unit...............

I went into Best Buy last night and the guy is talking about this huge install cost because of all this fancy wiring and Im thinking, "Huh..........what about the harness???" and he says, "Well.........theres alot of splicing with that harness.......its not just a plug in thing you know......"

He also showed me four or five head units..........all single din and said any of them will fit. Mostly I was lookking at Pioneer and Sony units. Ive always had good luck with the Pioneer Supertuner units but this goes back about 20 years...................

Metra harness 70-5519.....Ok that shop run run fast from it....Unless you talked to one of the sells idiots, but if it was an installer dont go back! Like everywhere there going to be good and bad.....There is nothing really hard in installing a deck into your car. We can talk you throught it, the mach system is alittle different from what ttocs has on his page but wiring it is very similar. Start first with buying that harness you can pick it up a best buy....

Ok, I know this thread is aging but I'm going to go ahead and bump it. After having nothing but problems dealing with Best Buy and a few car stereo shops, I called the guys from Crutchfield. For replacing my year 2000 mach 460 reciever/deck, I need a harness that will accept TWO pairs of RCA plugs. So... 4 total. There is a set for the rear and a set for the front. I have an alpine cda-9815 which has 3 pairs of RCA out, 2 pairs for the front/rear speakers and a pair for the subs. This is important because you want to use preamp output if you're using the factory amps and speakers (which I have no need of replacing). Just wanted to help a little.

Oh and here's a link to the harness I needed.
