I have a 1998 V6 Mustang. It has the Mach 400 sound system. All four 6 x 9 speakers are producing no sound at all. The problem just started out of no where. The four small tweeters still work fine, but the 6 x 9's won't produce any sound. I removed one of the speakers and had it tested, and the speaker itself is fine. This started with the factory head unit installed, and I replaced that with a Pioneer deck that I know works fine. It didn't do anything to solve the problem. A guy at an audio video place said he tried bypassing the amp, but that also didn't solve the problem. I'm really running out of ideas here. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas? I'd really appreciate it.

wow, forgive my sarcasm but I have to laugh a little before I help you. Ford has never made a mach 400 system and hasn't had a 6 x 9 in a mustang for almost 20 yrs..... Sorry I am a D, I am sure you mean the mach 460 system and 5 x 7 speakers but now to help you........
Did you hook up the blue wires on the pioner radio? The remote output on the radio (blue/white) needs to be connected to the amplifier turn on(blue or blue/white) on the harness side. The woofers will probably make a loud turn on pop when you turn the radio on, check the forum sticky on how to fix that.
Page 2 of my cardomain page shows how to put a deck into a mach system but it doesn't have to be that hard.
Ha, yeah thanks for the correction, definitely the Mach 460, not 400 and no 6 x 9's.
I did recheck the connections though and the blue wire and blue/white wire along with all the others are hooked up. Also I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the new deck or wiring, because this problem started when the factory deck was still in the car.
Would you by any chance have any other suggestions? Anything would be helpful. Thanks
if it effected the original radio then you should probably start simple and check fuses. No, I don't know which one and always recomend checking all the fuses when one is suspected.
So this JUST happened to my 2001 Mustang GT. I have the 460 system and the speakers just stopped working the other day. The Tweeds work, but everything else shut off. I'm going to check the fuses.. I hope it is something that simple. It is definitely related to the amps I have a feeling.
I talked to one guy at an audio video place and he was pretty stumped by the problem. His only guess was to maybe replace the amps. I'm going to see if someone at a different place might have an idea. Let me know if you find a solutionf or your problem if you don't mind.
