Default ON/OFF Switch on Remote Wire?

I need an On/Off toggle switch for my system in my car because the amp and subs don't turn off when the car does so I was wondering if I could put the switch on the remote wire? Would that work or would it just cause more problems?
Thanks!

yes, you could put a switch on the remote wire and as long as you remember to turn it off you will be ok. But it would be much much much easier to correct the problem and hook the remote wire up correctly.

Plus like in the olden days, you can get some nice Powerup thump. Modern amps have a staggered powerups to prevent the thump on turnon.

Look around for a power source that is powered buy the ignition switch. There are plenty of testers out there that are pretty cheap. Hook that up to the REMOTE lead, can be a low current source.

if your running an aftermarket headunit it should turn off. if you have factory i would say try to find an ignition wire or something to spice into. someone installed an remote wire on/off switch on my car before i got it and it is not cool

It would work fine with the stock head unit. I had mine run like that for awhile, but I kept forgetting to turn it off. Also I didn’t want any switches or wires showing so i had the switch run under the cup holder and would pop it out to turn it off. I eventually ran it to the ignition. if you’re worried about having too much bass and not being able to turn it off, your stock head unit works pretty good for cutting the bass back down to normal.

I would just go with running it to the ignition wires, there is a wire that is 12v on on and start, im thinking that it was the white/pink wire on mine but im not sure
I needed it to hook up my ignition sence on my alarm, I just hate the look of switches and id prob forget to turn it off, lol
