Thanks again.

I talked to my boss today over lunch he said that 20w RMS through the speakers would be plenty considering how efficent they are. He was saying that if you had junky speakers, then you would need an amp to get them sounding good, but with these Alpines I should be able to run them just fine off the head unit. I just need to make sure I get a 4 channel headunit that can put out 20w RMS @ 4 ohms. I think at this point I'm gonna take that route, then if I think they quality sucks or for some reason need to amp it later, I'll get a 5-channel amp + a sub.

Again thanks for your help.

The quality wont suck however you are wasting a ton of money on those speakers if you only plan to use them 1/5 of their potential. You might want to consider the alpine type S speakers if you arent concerned so much about power and running an external amplifier. Its your choice, all I was trying to do was provide you with the info to get a nice sounding system for decent money. Again, I would strongly consider going with a different speaker because you are paying for the type R name and Power. Here is the link to the type S you might consider.

This is a cheaper option and more suited to your needs/budget. Also just so you know, your factory speakers were probably pushing 20 watts rms just to give you an idea of what you can expect. Not to knock your boss but I highly doubt he knows much about stereos unless he installs them or sells them.

Yea I was actually thinking the S series ones myself after reading around, getting some S series 3-way 6x9s and plugging them in, or even these 3-way 6x8 Pioneer speakers, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSA6...w&rvm=ShowAllt

You think a pair of S series 5x7 would be better then those 3-way 6x8 Pioneers? If I got the S series 3-way 6x9, it would involve some hacking I don't want to do. Again I'm not looking to impress my hoomies on the corner or get in any competitions, just something with a nice clean sound.

I can always add a amp later if I think I need more power. I'm pretty set on this headunit though, as it puts out a fair amount of RMS for a headunit, and people seem to think pretty highly of it. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KDCX...3.html?tp=5684

I can get it a lot cheaper then their listed price though.
