you have a dual 2 ohm sub. you need to wire one set of temminals on the sub to one channel on the amp and then wire the other temminals on the sub to the amp.

Your sub should be wired like Option #2. It's called "Series" wiring. pull the sub out of the box, and make sure that is how it's wired. I'd almost be willing to bet that right now it is in parallel (both + wired together, both - wired together) like most of the guys already said. The amps goes into protect mode, shutting off to protect itself from burning up the circuit board inside...

Anyways, go to that site, make sure to follow option 2, and it will work. The only other thing I can think of right now that would make it shut off like that is if you have the "Gain" set too high, but generally your sub would blow before the amp shuts down from clipping...

edit- by the way, the pic can be misleading. from the amp, run the + to the + of coil A (might be marked A,1,might not be marked), then run a wire from the - of coil A to the + of coil B (again, B,2,maybe nothing), then run the amp - to the - of coil B.

Damn, it's a pretty easy thing to do, but hard as hell to explain in text haha

thanks for the help guys. i will wire the sub up like that diagram..

if it's already wired like that, than im going to put my money on the problem being my ground wire

so how do i wire the sub if this is the picture? the online pic is different from the actual sub.. just tell me which wires to plug in....

go to the picture of the sub facing upside down

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...SWR1222&tp=111

EDIT: and my gain and frequency arent even have way up.. this sub hits hard enough for me, i just want it to keep hitting hard without turning off.. i turned the gain all the way up just to see what would happen, and boy is it loud lol

I'd upgrade the wiring too you should have at least 10 or 12 gauge speaker wires and 4 gauge power and ground that looks like 16 awg on the speakers I you have a digital voltage meter that can read ohms that would be able to give you the readings of your setup

The sub will have a positive terminal and a negative terminal on each side being a dual voice coil sub. You need to take one positve over to the negative on the other side of the sub, then with the left over positve and the negative take to the amp

in the pic, it would look like this (sorry for the HORRIBLE paint skills lol)

but if it doesnt look like the pic, then there should be a + & - terminal on each side, or at least seperated from the other pair of terminals. in the pic, the 2 left terminals are for one coil, the two on the right are for the other.

i finally understand it now... after reading everyones posts multiple times and researching online, it took me a while, but i finally understand what to do...

thanks for the help guys.. i know it can be very bothersome when somebody has no idea what they are doing... thanks for bearing with me.. hopefully my sub will stop cutting out now!

question about the jumper cable though... if you look in any of my pictures, look at the wire i have that splits off into -,+ and -,+ Can i just use BOTH + connections of the wire, or BOTH - connections of the wire to act as a jumper wire to go from the left over + of one voice coil to the left over - of the other voice coil? will that work as a jumper so that i dont have to go out and buy wire?

red wire to the far left (+), black to the far right (-), then ANY wire from the left (-) to the right (+). there is really no wrong jumper wire, it doesnt have a + or - end, it just moves the current (amperage? maybe. been a while since mecp haha) across both coils. I explained it wrong, but the outcome is right

but the jumper can go either way, just make sure it is the middle 2 terminals you're jumping.
