I can't remember EXACTLY what i have, but my current set up is a Kenwood MP-5032 HU, Rockford Fosgate Amp (i believe its a 1200W amp) and an Alpine Type R
Anyway, everytime that my bass is really hitting, the sub will cut out? Idk why its doing that.. If i recall, the rockford amp that i bought has a feature that protects the sub from hitting too hard and blowing or something?? my question is, how do i get my set up to hit hard and CONTINUE hitting hard... not just one hard hit and than have it cut out like it always does
i hope this is clear... im not very electronically inclined. i installed the set-up myself, but idk if ill be able to fix it if it is difficult
I believe that my amp is bridged? not sure. but i have heard that if i find a better ground for my car, it shouldn't cut out? is this POSSIBLE? or do you think there is an underlying problem elsewhere?
hopefully there is an easy fix! thanks for reading guys!! im anxious to hear what you all have to say..
EDIT: i believe my amp is a P4002 if that is a rockford amp

4) Get fog lights sprayed with black/clear mix
5) Get lower valence re-sprayed
it sounds like the amp is not happy for some reason or another. It could be the sub it is wired to or the wiring going to the sub or the amps wiring, its hard to tell with out knowing the details on what the sub is. Some pics of the amp install might help.
sounds like the amp is a 2 ch. and when its is bridged it will only run at 4 ohms. and i'm just guessing that the sub is a dual 4 ohm wired down to 2 ohms. this will work at low volume, but when the volume turned up and the subs goes to hit a low note it clips the amp.

the amp IS a 2 channel... the sub is an alpine type R (the 2ohm one).. i went to order the 4 ohm one but the guy called me back and said i had to get the 2-ohm one with this specific amp...
anyways, here is my amp(well this is a 400W amp and mine is a 1200W but it looks the same)... the wires are on the outter speaker section (look for the rear pics of the amp) http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ..._id=101275&loc
is there anyway i can fix this thing?

how do you have the sub wired up ? it should be wired like this. one wire from one voice coil + to the other voice coils - , then the + of that coil to the amp + and the - from the first voice coil to the amps - . doing this will have the sub running at 4 ohm.
what gauge wire are you running for power and ground? should be no less than 4 gauge

How about i take pictures of my set up tomorrow or the next day and post them up for you??
You will be able to see better than what i am telling you.
I know that one wire on my amp goes to a + sign and the other goes to a - sign... if you look on the link i posted and if you enlarge the back of the amp picture, my one wire goes to the far left of the left side of the amp (which is a + sign i believe) and the other wire goes to the far right side of the left of the amp (which is a - sign)...
i believe i have a 4 gauge wire..it's either 4 or 8? but im 90% sure its a 4

here are the specs of my system along with pictures...
i have a 12" alpine type R 1222D
rockford fosgate P4002 1200W 2ch amp
wire size is a 4 gauge i think? still unsure. maybe you can tell by pictures
its kinda hard to read the writing, but you can see the wiring. it is bridged
is it possible that my ground is not grounded to a strong enough area in the car?? i have heard from several people that this may be my problem...what do you guys think?

by any chance can you get us the model number, or voice coil impedence and configeration(single voice coil 4 ohm, dual 4 ohm voice coil for ex)? It sounds as though you might have the amp bridged below its mono capabilities so it is turning off to protect itself from blowing up.
i wrote in the above post that it is the SWR-1222D alpine type R
as for the amp, i dont know what voice coils are. those blue things?? i'm going to try to post up a link to my amp. and a link to my sub and maybe you guys can figure it out? i dont know much about this stereo crap... i bought this thing 2+ years ago.. my stereo knowledge went down the drain
