Default Shaker 500 and Pioneer AVIC related Sub amplifier question

Alright so sorry if this is a repost of some sort. I was unable to find an exact answer hence making a thread.

I have a 2009 GT Premium with the Shaker 500 system from factory. I am looking to get a double din nav unit (Pioneer AVIC X710BT) so I have been researching for a few weeks to get as much detail as possible. I would do the install myself and have read through a few DIY's but I dont have the space or tools to do it so I started looking at installer options.

I went to Best Buy here locally today and spoke with their installer. What I was told is that they can do the install with the harness and dash kit for about $105 to $107. He raised 1 doubt though. He said that he doesnt know if the stock amp will work or not with the aftermarket head unit. He may have to bypass it and then the subs wouldnt work. The only way to make it work would be to get an aftermarket amp. I dont want to tear up the factory wiring, I was hoping that with the Metra Harness and the 5v resistor it would be a plug and play deal.

Anyone have any idea if such an issue would arise? I dont know a lot about audio and even less about Mustangs so please help me out.
Thanks,
Rishi

Yes it works with the metra harness.Look at the posts on installing the avics on the forum. On the 09 you will also need ant adapter as well there is no key on power on the 08 and 09 s in the factory harness, you will need to buy a mini fuse holder that you can buy from any parts store. I believe you plug into #4 in fuse block in passanger side fuse block. this will alow the radio to stay on till the door is opened like the way it is from the factory. The fuse holder plugs into the block and has a wire coming out one side which you run to the key on power from the deck. Also would not trust best buy installing it!

Thanks for the response. I'm not going to have BB install it, I jsut went there cuz they are close and open on sundays so I wanted to see what they could tell me to help me get more info. I have looked through the sticky on here so I was convinced that other than the 5v regulator anything additional would not be needed. The installer confused me so I figured may as well ask and make sure. Your repsonse reassures me

Now this other thing you talk about no key on power thing. I'm a little confused. You say I'll need an adapter, what kind of adapter? Does it only have to do with key on power? I do not care for the stereo to stay on till the door is opened since I dont really have electronics on unless the car is running. Not saying that I dont want it I jsut dont want to splice into the OEM harness. (coming form an audi aka electrical nightmare zone lol). Some elaboration will help me greately.

It can be done very easily. I put in the Alpine 505 and all works great. 1 down to keeping the stock amp is you will hear a loud speaker click on noise when you turn on the car. no big deal. and my unit stays on until the door is open. good luck.

Sorry for all the dumb questions. Which adapter are you talking about? The one for the no key on power? I am unable to put the 2 together.

Also another n00b question. without the no key on power wiring thing, just pluggin in the metra with the voltage regulater, the radio should turn on when the key is in the on position right?

No the deck needs key on power and also constant battery power to work! You will need the mini fuse holder thats in the link i posted and also antenna adapter has well.

bumping this back up again but wanted to make sure my parts list outside of the actual unit and its accessories is complete

Metra Double Din Kit Part # 95-5812 (found on this forum)
Metra harness for Shaker 500 Part # 70-5521 (found on this forum)
RS Voltage Regulater 12V to 5v Model 7805 Part # 276-1770 (found on this forum)
Metra Antena Adapter Part # AW-CR10 (not sure if this is correct)

Can someone confirm the antena adapter part number for me along with anything I may have missed?
