Is there a head unit that is out that could or would replace the Ford stereo? If you have done it to your car could you share some photos?

I believe you would also lose SYNC if you change out the factory head unit.

I never thought about that Brandon. I just got back from a place called Reus Systems in Orange, CA. They do custom installs for the local dealers and everything is hidden where it can not be seen. The systems I have heard are amazing and the do some pretty interesting things like putting speakersto image behind the rear view mirror. I met them at the LA Auto show and I thought I would drop in on them to see what they could do.

Bottom line is they could set me up for about $2200 for the complete system. They had Bentleys, Vetts, BMWs and the place looked legit? Not sure what I m going to do but $2200 was a little more than I wanted to spend.

I'm just about to put components into the front of my 06. I got Infinity Reference 6820's for the front and Infinity Reference regular 2 ways for the rear. Also a Sony 700w 4 channel. I already have 2 MTX 7500 series 12's. Pushed by an MTX 601D amp. I'm glad I got a 30 day return on them. Not sure I'm going to be so happy. We will see once that amp and door speakers are installed. Now my problem is, where can I put the tweeters? lol

The reason I decided to go to these guys is because they do a professional install. You can not see the tweeters in the door even if you are looking right at it. This is a $7000 system they are putting in for $2200 because it is their first 2010 mustang. I need to agree to show the car at cars and coffee a few times a month so people can see thier work. They are all about the imaging and the soundstage. They have found a way to set up up so it comes directly at you. In fact they do not use the speakers in the back so phase and cancellation do not take place.

These are not brand name speakers but they do sound great. I know it is not a ton of money but I am doing so many other things to the car at the same time so it is getting expensive.

Remember the SYNC. If I had it, I wouldn't want to lose it

Agreed. He is going to do everything off of the stock head unit so it should be fine. He has a warranty against anything that does not work from the factory. This is why they work with so many local dealers.

Those 12s are going to sound crazy in such a small place. I wanted the set up to be very musical so I went with 1 - 10 inch with lots of mid bass and clean highs. I think I am going to do it but I am going to try and get the price down a bit. Good luck with your system and post it when it is done. The earliest I can get mine done is mid Jan.
