Default Stereo Help

Hey guys i need some help. I have a 2008 mustang with the base package stereo. So i installed all four aftermarket speakers and i hooked up a four channel amp to them. All was good until i realized that they were made for mids and highs and they sound like **** when i play anything that has bass. So i bought two 12 inch subs and a mono amp and it sounds good but i can tell the speakers are still trying to play bass through them. So how can i adjust all those little **** on the amps so the bass plays through the subs? Is it that easy? Thanks guys
