Default New Head Unit Problem

Hi everybody I just got a new Head unit, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X696, for my 2001 sixxer. The previous owner of the car had put an Alpine MRV-F357 amp in it and wired it so that all the speakers and the subs were being powered by it. So everything was going smoothly on the install, had all the wires connected correctly for the power, but when I go to connect the RCA cables from the amp the head unit immediately goes into Protect mode. It doesn't matter which RCA cable (front, rear, or subs) it still goes into Protect. Can anyone help me?

Sounds like the amp is not grounded, and is trying to find a path through the rca cables to the head.

not sure about the amps grounding as it sounds to me like you have a bad rca cable.
