looks like stock wiring to me. More then likely it is just that the amp has gone bad I seem to have been reading about alot more of them going out this last year.

Thanks. So those red wires with the electrical tape are stock? I wouldn't have guessed that. Perhaps I'll just keep my eyes open for some amps and hope for the best.

any year differences I should look out for? There are a few on ebay for ~$40 that say they are good for 94-04

I am not for sure if there is one specific for the front and one for the rear, never looked into them that much. You still have the stock deck in the car as well?

Yep, still has the stock deck. I'm pretty sure I've read it has 2 rear amps and none up front. I think some of the older ones have one up front.

there is a module under the radio but it is more of a cross over then an eq. There are two amps in the back one for the front woofers and one for the rear. Did you loose all the bass or just the front/rear? If you lost it all it could be the deck that went bad.

with the amps plugged in I lose all sound except for the odd pop or crackle. With them unplugged it sounds like sound is coming from all speakers, just with little to no base.

well then it could be the amp or the deck. Only way to tell really is to swap one or the other out.

Any chance you have had your dash/deck out lately(heater core?) and that the wires back there might not be plugged in all the way? I would check them before I start swappin parts.
