Satellite radio retention???
I am getting ready to install a new in dash DVD player in my 2009 GT with shaker 500 system. I am most likely going with the Pioneer AVH-X3500BH. I have a couple of questions...
1. Can I retain the OEM Sirius radio or will I need a new tuner? I am pretty sure from reading other threads that the OEM sat antenna can be used, is that correct?
2. Do they make a harness so I can just plug in the new radio so that I can still use the OEM sub and amp with no popping sound when the car starts or is the 5v regulator still necessary?

You will need a new tuner for the sat radio but may be able to use the factory antenna, I can't remember where the factory tuner is located. To fix the pop you can add a 1-1.5k ohm resistor inline on the amp turn on wires or you can do a voltage dividing network which is more work.

Can't use the factory tuner but I would use the pioneer xm tuner http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P920...EX-P920XM.html
And yes you can use the factory antenna even with xm. The factory tuner is in the back corner passenger side of the trunk. I just removed the factory tuner and put the pioneer in the same spot. The antenna will plug right in. (may have to remove the plastic around the plug, can't remember if it had one on the factory wire) I ran the power up to the battery wire on the head unit along with the wire that sends sound to the head unit. Left the factory tuner harness alone to put back later if needed.
