Default 97 stang with mach 460 system

Hi everyone, I want to take out the fac. radio and cd player, can i just take it out and buy the harness needed for a single din cd player then use where the cd player part is now for like storage? I am sure they make all types of kits,
I do not like the HUGE box in the back where the 6x9's are located, I want to do away with that whole thing, the amps and all, Can i just unplug all that and put in some other 6x9 for highs then I want to put a single 8 or maybe a couple of 8's back there for bass.

if I did this then would i even need the harness for the radio itself?

the front speakers just are diven off the radio I would guess.

Thanks, I seen a thread about the 460 system but guessing it was in a newer mustang cause my radio and cd player are spaced out from each other.

one reason I want to replace it too is one of the 6x9 are blown, could i replace it with any 6x9 or anything special about them

Also could I just wire from the factory wiring from the radio for the new 6x9 in the rear? Do you think I would keep the stock amps and just hook up some 8" subs to them? or any way to use the factory amps? its kinda nice having them up out of the way. Could i use the power for those amps for another amp?

thanks
