ok, Was not easy to find so I figure I will atleast post a thread on this.

The Mach 460 sound system will -NOT- work with other Ford Premium head units. As far as I know this applies to the Double Din sized stereos at the very least .. my 2002

Trying to save up for down payment on a house so buying a 460 H/U on ebay is low priority. Not paying 200$ for factory without knowing that is the ONLY issue.

We swapped out the Mach460HU in our 97 (yeah I know not the same...) for an Alpine, and I've swapped out the Shaker's in every S197 I've had for Pioneers and every time it's given far better sound then any Ford "premium" HU.

I would say go aftermarket and probably pay less than 200 out the door installed and get better sound. If you buy the harness, the whole thing is pretty much plug and play and you can do it yourself if you want to save a couple of bucks. Otherwise, pay the neighbor who does car stereos a 6 pack to do it

really want to get the stock one rolling.

Fiancee will not let me spend the money to replace the H/U or anything else. saving for a move to Colorado next year.

If you have a spare mach deck laying around drop me a line though. I am pretty sure the deck I have is the problem, but dont know if there is more down the line. If I manage to get any money free, its going to be a piffle amount and I get one shot.
