Default 14 Shaker Audio Replacement help

Hello Folks,

New to the community but a long time Mustang enthusiast, just picked up an early birthday present (2014 Mustang GT Convertible) and I am seriously disappointed in the shaker audio system, it’s a joke! I haven’t done a car stereo since I was a teenager (long time ago)... I like clean clear systems with punchy bass, what do you all recommend? I was thinking Component up front, 6x8 in the rear, and a 12” JL in the back. I have no idea on amps, last time I did this Phoenix Gold was the good stuff.

Thanks all!

The front door speakers are "component style," with a 5" and a separate dome tweeter. I replaced the front doors "mid-range and tweeter" with the Pioneer TS-D6802 R coaxial speakers. I bought new speaker mounts from Tousley FORD (From the 2010 Mustang). I used the Metra wiring adapters. What a solid difference in the "quality" of the sound The clarity of the sound is just very good! I talked to a fellow in a car stereo shop about the 8" woofers. He told be they were actually very good speakers and "better replacements" would be expensive and hard to distinguish in terms of the sound. Not an "audiophile" configuration, but neither is the front seat of a convertible with the top down

That is what I have, component in front, coax 5x7 in the rear deck, and a 12" jl in the back. I have JL amps powering everything. they are both 360 watt RMS, one is a 2 channel and the other is a 4. the 2 channel is powering the sub. I have the amps on a shelf in the trunk under the speaker deck.
feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

Thanks for the replies! Did you replace your head unit as well? I definitely want to keep my wheel controls, Sat Radio, Sync and so on.

I have an install thread on a head unit, I kept all the steering wheel controls, and you need to make sure the hu has sat radio if you want it, you need a special adapter for the sync to work right, and it might require some setup, but I haven't done it with sync so I don't know.
I assume you want to do it yourself, which is what I did, but I would recommend getting friendly with a local car audio shop to either buy the stuff from(easier warranty coverage), or to at least ask questions from if you get stuck or need help programming the sync.

YOU should check out this sub, I have one installed in my 2010, it looks like it will fit almost any aftermarket 12" sub woofer, and it tucks out of the way, real clean
