RCA's are from "SW" RCA terminals on the back of the radio. There are front, rear, & SW. IT is from SW to the RCA ports on the amp. Yes it lights up. My meter shows power in but not out. Like there's no signal from the RCA. would a bad ground do this too, or would it not power up at all?? I have the ground ran to 1 of the tail light studs where it comes through the body. (smashed to the body) Should i bare the metal? i assume it wouldn't work if it wasn't grounding.

If both the head and the amp light up, they are getting power. The amp may have a blue wire that tells it the radio (head) is on, this needs to go to 12V or 6V that comes from the head. The amp instructions will tell you the voltage the blue wire needs.

I'm just wondering if i need this "line level converter" on my 01 gt. I have a Kenwood deck & I just added 2 subs & a new amp.
no, hooking to the RCAs of your new head will work fine.

Here is what I would do, hook a speaker to one of the speaker outputs of the head unit to make sure it's working.
Play music with your phone or Ipod into a mini to RCA cable into the AMP RCA inputs to check the amp.
This will let you know which is not working, the head or the amp.

I tried the ipod to amp RCA's. It worked that way. There is 12v on the blue wire at the radio to ground & at the amp to ground. I bared the metal around the taillight stud where I had the ground. It gave me a + reading this time when i ran my meter from blue wire on amp, to ground.Where before it read -. However the 4amp power wire still reads -12v when I run the meter from power to ground. But power light is lit up.All speakers work in the car except the subs so I'm leaning toward the RCA outputs on the radio. But the radio is only a yr old. could there be a wire I need to disconnect on the Scosche wiring harness that may be diverting power from the RCA's?? As my luck runs, the book for the radio is now missing from my car!!!

If the amp/subs work when you hook up your ipod, the prob is either the RCA cables from the head or no sound from the head RCAs. Some heads have an off/on menu for the subs. You should be able to get the manual for the head on line.
