My Nexus 7 Dash Install Project

hah, your doing the exact same im doing
i took the metra bezel kit and dremeled it flat in the back, going to use plastic epoxy to fill in the gaps so it surrounds the tablet correctly, made a fiberglass mount for the tablet to fit in behind the dash.
also i edited the porsche pic out of the sleep screen and instead put another version of the pic in my sig into it

if your going to fiberglass, make sure you use something non-stick so you can remove the tablet from the mold easily, that part took me about 2 hours...lol
I wrapped the tablet in ceran wrap to keep the epoxy out, but forgot anything non-stick, and the tight fit it made was a total pain. Also I would recommend attempting to sand down the little bump by the charging port to match the rest of the bottom of the tablet.
what i did was place the fiberglass to cover about 90% of the front from the bottom up, wrap the rest over the back to completely support it, leaving the top open to remove from.
Im using the location pins in the back of the main bezel to hold mount in place, the two that look like crosses.

I went with a Rockford Fosgate Prime RS250-4 running the factory speakers and a JL Audio 250/1 monoblock running a Kicker C12. I've got the deck speakers and door full range speakers on one channel of the Rockford and the door woofers on the other channel.

I did the same. In case anyone else wants to do this... the picture is in the /system/ folder. Put your new pic in there, rename the Porsche pic in case you need to go back to it, and rename your new pic "usbrom-powerdown.jpg" The resolution needs to be 1280x736.

Looks good, Greg! I'm not sure what Porsche picture you guys are talking about though. Can't say I've seen that. Is that for Daydream? I must admit, I haven't enabled Daydream on mine. I wasn't sure if I'd want it or if I'd rather it just stay display on.

That's weird, I haven't seen that even once, hah! But mine never technically goes into standby of any kind. When it gets power, it turns the screen and radios on, when power is lost, Tasker kills the screen and radios, so it never really goes into any kind of standby on it's own, maybe that's why I haven't seen it. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

yea thats basically what ours do, turns off screen, wifi/bluetooth and as much as it can to take minimal power. then when it recieved power it all gets kicked back on.
Its just that screen normally shows unless you have it turn off the instant power is lost
