Default Shaker 500 door sub upgrade shelby kicker

Anyone on here install just these door subs on their car, I have a stock shaker 500 system now on my 06 and was wondering how much of an upgrade it would be to just throw these in.http://www.shelbystore.com/product-p/ka-8-woofer.htm

probably a downgrade; they obviously have higher moving mass so their output will be lower than the stock subs. don't bother unless you're also going to increase the power to the door subwoofers.

I have heard, well I've read elsewhere that those would make a good upgrade, and it was recommended that if you do try to upgrade your subs, to use these. Or at least the stock Shelby subs.

I am less than a rookie on these systems and I just bought my Mustang with Shaker yesterday, but in one day I have already been looking for possible upgrades to the shaker system and I did see these recommended. But don't take my word for it.

I have them, they are a huge improvement over the factory speakers, but you need need to replace the factory amps for these to work. The factory subs are dual 1.5 ohm voice coil speakers, the Shelby's are 4 ohms.

Hey Chrome......The Shelby site doesnt go above 2010 mustang. Any special modifications to make them fit in the 2012? I dont know that much about subs and amps but if each sub is 4 ohms are you running them in parallel to get to 4 ohms combined? What are the RMS ratings on the Shelby Kickers? Easy enough to wire up?

The Shelby subs fix perfectly in my 2012. The factory amp is crap, imho, I used a 4 channel 200W Sony amp (50W per channel) and mounted it in the factory location. I used one amp channel for the left sub and one for the right sub.
The Sony amp has 2 channels with filter setting, these are useful to keep the high freq out of the subs.
I used speaker level inputs, I tapped into the rear speakers-the door speakers do not have the full freq range. I did use the factory speaker wires, you'll need to take the door off if you want to run new wires into the door.

Here is a link, let me know if you have questions. https://mustangforums.com/forum/audi...ker-500-a.html
Btw, I think the door subs have a more realistic sound that a single trunk sub. Some Rock tunes have different bass in each speaker, like -Pink Floyd's another brick in the wall. You can actually hear the "chopper" moving. A single sub is prob better for rap. I also replaced the factory 6x8 inch speakers, no amp or special wiring is needed.
Wayne613 has a link with the wiring diagrams and wire colors in this post.
