Default Where to connect the ground wire for an amp in the rear.

I have everything apart now and I am looking for a place to ground my amplifier in the rear.

You see all that bare metal? There you go. Look for an existing grounding screw our use a self tapping sheet metal screw and a lock washer

If you stick a sheet metal screw in it you'll have a solid ground.

I tried a few different screw locations in my last mustang but got some alternator whine with most all of them... but some of that is directly tied to the headlights as well. I eventually ended up using the seat belt bolt as a ground... Couldn't find anywhere else that I liked. I don't think I would recommend that again though... probably wasn't the smartest idea I have had.

Thanks I ended up loosing a bolt that holds the seat in and connected it there. No alternator whine.

Good idea. Some of those bolts are a bit big for a ring terminal to fit over. Glad it worked out for you.

Kev - Where precisely did you find the bolt you're speaking of? Everything I can find under the rear seat is painted except the bolts connecting the loop bar for the child seat to the frame. Unfortunately the bar between the two bolts is painted. I'm hoping your location provides an easier connection.

Thanks!

I used the upper bolt from the seatbelts on my last car, This one i found a stud in the spare tire well that has worked great. If you want to use a seat bolt that works as well, but to get to it you need to unbolt the seats.

I ran a wire back to the negative side of the battery...same gauge as the positive wire.
