Default Mach 460 head unit for an 03 GT

Hello everyone. I have a question that hopefully someone here can help me with...

When I purchased my 2003 Mustang GT almost two years ago, it had an aftermarket stereo that did not work very well. I opted to change it back to the factory stereo. I purchased one from Ebay, and just got it today. It was supposed to have been checked out and operational. Well, the dreaded "CD ERROR" message was displayed on the screen. I removed the faceplate and carefully extracted the CD's, hooked it back up, and it still had the error...not to mention the volume **** has a short in it or something.

The part number of the stereo I purchased is 2R3T-18c815-AA, which apparently is for a 2002.

My question is- There are a lot of stereos with the same part number, except for the last two letters, such as AA, BB, BC, etc., etc.. Does anyone know where I can find information on which stereos will work in my 2003? I know there is a lot of stereos that are for explorers and such, but I have no idea which ones will work, so I am very limited on finding one that I know is compatible.

And while we're on the subject, does anyone know of a good source to find a factory stereo- maybe an online store or something? I could post something in the "Wanted To Buy" section, but I do not have enough posts.

This is getting a bit ridiculous, and all I want is some tunes! Thank you much, for any help or suggestions!

Greg

I've got a MACH head unit out of my 2004 I could get to you if it'd fit.
I'll check the part number tomorrow.
One thing I do know:
A co-worker has a 2002 GT and my MACH unit has different connectors than the head unit out of my 2004.

Wow, that would be awesome! I wonder if your co-worker's stereo is of the Mach variety? I would think, but then again, I guess you could have ordered a 2002 however you wanted it. Awhile back, when I first started looking into it, I checked my wife's stereo in her Mercury Grand Marquis, and then checked one out of a Ranger, and they both had the two plug thing, rather than three.

I am just afraid to order anything online without knowing it will fit beforehand. At any rate, thank you for the response. It will be interesting to compare the part number from yours.
