Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed but I could not find any solid information.

Just purchased a 2013 GT with 4 speaker system. I am wanting to better sound without purchasing a new HU. Will there be any gains by just replacing speakers with the non-shaker HU? I am not necessarily wanting a louder system but wanting more clarity.

I added speakers only to my '13 and wasn't pleased with the sound at all. It didn't sound any better than the stock speakers to me. I used Pioneer TS-D6802R's in the doors and Pioneer TS-A6885R's in the rear deck.

I ended up replacing the HU and adding a couple of amps along with two 10" subs. Only after that was I able to achieve the sound quality I was looking for.

Now I have the '14 with the shaker system and I wish I had the stereo system out of my old car.

you might get better clarity with co-axial speakers, but don't expect miracles. you won't get any more bass unless you add a subwoofer.
