For me, the selection was visual. Purely a taste thing, but I've never been big on stripes & spoilers on street cars. So,for me it was Bullitt over a GT...
Maybe not over a GT...if the Bullitt hadn't been available, I might not have bought a Mustang.

i know some people might hate me for this but ive found bullitts to be factory upgraded gt's. intake, exhaust, maybe gears, and some diff trim/interior setup.
WOW! I just recently registered to this forum and was reading thru older posts... I could not resist a chime in on this one.
There has been much debate over the actual output of the stock Bullitts. Stock dyno pulls typically show around 270-275 hp at the flywheel (238rwhp). However, be aware that it is the area under the curve NOT the peak figure that counts most. Torque is the force that accellerates the car, so more usable torque will get the car moving more quickly. The torque curve of the Bullitt is noticably better than the GT.
All of this being said, I had a 2000 GT and now a 2001 Bullitt. My stock Bullitt was about .35 quicker in ET than my stock Gt was.

You are leaving out the 2 best upgrades from GT to Bullitt. Those would be the big brakes and the suspension. As a guy who had a 2000 GT, I can say that there is a huge difference in the brakes. The suspension is also much better and frankly, FORD should have made all of the GTs with these 2 upgrades.

Like i previously posted, my buddy's geared and full bolt on Bullitt was no faster than my gt. In fact he has 10 less hp (we even dynoed at the same shop) than me, and we have the same bolt ons.
I don't doubt your experience, but in general they don't make anymore power (at least not with bolt ons) and that "supposidly better torque curve" didn't make a bit of difference in the race.

WOW! Maybe I should just stick to the other 2 Mustang forums I usually frequent. I have spent a couple of days reading thru some of the posts here, and frankly I think some of the guys here will never listen to actual facts and will always just spew crap to try to justify whatever they wish.
The question was "What is the difference between a Bullitt and a GT?"If you add a bunch of crap to a car, it is no longer reasonable to discuss factory stock configurations. As a guy who owned both a 2000 GT and a 2001 Bullitt, I can say without any doubt, the Bullitt IS quicker and is configured as all GTs should have been! Bigger brakes and better tuned suspension should always be part of a "performance" car's fundamental neccessities.
I'm not trying to be an a**, but if we all would just stick to the facts and not try to make ourselves feel better by bashing someone else, this would be a much more productive forum for everyone.

How would a 2008-2009 Bullitt stack up against a 2010 GT 5-speed with 3:73's? Not trying to be a jerk at all....just wondering since the 2010 is based on the Bullitt. Apples to apples, I wonder if it's a wash, performance wise. I do get the cool-factor of a Bullitt. I almost had one, but didn't move fast enough. My loss.
