new bullitt, how disappointing

RE: new bullitt, how disappointing
thanks ford for the new bullitt. the color and the conservative- sleeper look is awsome. when you get to be my age, you just don't need all the wings and things. the power is great from the factory, and the upgraded interior is a joy to be in. hopefully ford will take this interior package and make it standard soon for all the gt crowd. ford does execute some things excelent, and the new bullitt is proof of that!

RE: new bullitt, how disappointing
Here's something I've never understood... the Bullitt was modeled after the 68 GT390. It's 390ci engine was, at the time, rated for 325hp. The 08 Buillitt is rated to have 315hp which is actually more than theHP listed for the 04 Mach One. So why do we keep reading about people who expected Ford to deliver Bullitt's with equivalent HP to aTerminator?
Personally I think the 08 Bullitt is an awesome ride! And I'm a very proud owner! [8D]

I have a slightly different perspective. I'm in love with the highland green bullitts and I think they look much better than a GT, but I can't justify the sticker price when a regular GT with a $600 CAI and tune will perform equally if not better.

I suggest you actually drive one. If it really disapoints you, you are expecting way too much for $31,000 in 2008.
As to the GT500 being over priced??? WTF???
BANG for the BUCK, nothing on the planet comes close to comparing to the FACTORY warranted 500 horsepower GT500. The only guys arguing otherwise do not have one.
For less than what a comparable 2008 Chevy 505-horsepower Z06 ($72,985~$82,000 MSRP) or the 2008 now 600-horsepower Viper SRT-10 ($85,985~$98,110 MSRP) costs I have my 2008 GT500 ($45,095 MSRP) and my Wife’s 2008 Bullitt ($32,165 MSRP) I paid $31,000.
Anyone building a comparable car out of a $30,000 Mustang GT faced with the cost of parts and labor, to change the engine, exhaust system, 6 speed transmission, brakes, suspension, leather interior and all body parts will be well above the cost of buying a brand new GT500, and they still won’t have one.
That warranty issue becomes even more important to me last month. Ford Motor Company just put a BRAND NEW 6.0-liter power stroke turbo diesel engine into my 45,xxx mile 2005 (totally unmodified, thank god) F-450. The cost of doing that engine replacement out of my pocket would cost me almost as much as another brand new V-6 Mustang. I have a GREAT appreciation of not violating my warranty terms.

i'm just frustrated because i thought for sure ford would make the bullit their mid range mustang model between the gt and the WAAY overpriced gt500(thanks to all the greedy dealers). so much for that idea

The 2008 Bullitt is an OUTSTANDING Mustang!!!
The original 1968 Mustang GT 390 boasted a 0-60 time of 7.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 15.2 seconds at 94.0 mph, according to Motor Trend. Now: Ford engineers modified the 2008 Mustang Bullitt’s chassis and suspension to fine-tune handling and ensure the extra horsepower and torque from the 4.6-liter V-8 is put to good use. Motor Trend clocks the 2008 Ford Mustang Bullitt at 5 seconds even for 0-60, with a quarter-mile time of 13.7 seconds at 102.7 mph.

1968 390 ci 7.8 15.2
2008 281 ci 5.0 13.7

RE: new bullitt, how disappointing
yeah i gotta agree with everyone here, if u don't like it go drive one. my dad is ordering one and when we test drove it oh my god. yeah its not as fast as my mustang but all around it feels just about perfect. handles great, peppy, and it comes with a short throw which makes it way easier to drive imo. i think my dad said he's paying a little over 31k before taxes and **** so when u put all those diff parts on a gt, make it look a ton better, and since its a collector car, u can't go wrong
