Default Help with factory alarm

I just bought my 01 Bullitt a couple of months ago from an individual and the alarm doesn't work. If I push the lock button twice I get the conformation double horn honk and the tailights and front turn signals light up briefly. But when it is armed, I can shake the car, try to open the doors, try to open the doors from the inside, and it won't go off, any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

click the red button under the steering wheel, it should beep twice, no horn, and all four corners should light up as well.

Thanks for the reply but, I've looked under the steering wheel and there is no red button?

there should be this cylindrical thing with two buttons on the side, when you lock the car it flashes red.

The only thing that flashes red when I lock it is the word "theft" in the instrument cluster

Neither Bullitt nor GTs came with an alarm system as standard equipment, though one could be installed by the dealer as a Ford accessory. It doesn't sound as though this particular car has an alarm system at all.

Then why do I get a conformation double honk of the horn and front and back lights twitching when I press the lock button on the remote twice?
