I have a close friend who collects classic cars. He has a new 2008 Green Bullitt, numbered under 2000, with 4.5 miles. We're talking about me possibly buying it from him. He paid $33,000.00 for it in 2008. (that sound about right?) What is a fair price for a car in such new shape and only 4.5 miles?

Welcome...33,000 sounds right for a new '08 Bullitt back then. I would guess it's worth 25,000 now, or a little more. Could be worth even more to the right person in a bidding war, with that low mileage.

Thanks! I think he thinks he is getting much more than $25,000, but there are a few of them on the market, none with so few miles though.

Buying to drive. I've since decided 30 grand is too much if I am driving it as opposed to parking it so I am looking for less expensive Bullitts with more miles. Makes more sense I think to spend $20,000 for one with 25,000 - 30,000 miles. The depreciation will not be as great if I do decide to sell it in a few years.

If I were you I would look for a used 5.0. I own a 2008 Mustang GT 5 speed stick. The day I bought my stang I took a 2008 Bullitt for a test drive. I really loved the green paint job and was leaning towards the Bullitt until i drove it. The Hurst shifter in the Bullitt did not feel as smooth as the GT, and the car really did not feel any quicker than the GT I had just driven. The salesman (his son and I had just finished Basic Training together and had gone along with me to make sure that his dad would get me a good deal) asked me what I thought about the Bullitt. I replied that it was like a stripped down version of the GT that cost more money. He agreed saying "Why do you think Ford won't make a green GT ". "Most of the Bullit's we sell are to older guys who were only going to drive them on the weekends, and looking to resell them at some future time for big bucks." " If this is going to be your daily driver in less than a year you will pull the Hurst shifter out for something better." "Ford is just selling the name, throw a good CAI and a tune on the GT and you will have a faster car and you will save yourself 8 grand". They wanted 33,000.00 for the Bullitt and 25,000.00 for the GT. I bought the GT. Since the 5.0 came out, you can pick up a used GT at a steal. I talked to my friends dad who sold me the car and he said almost every day someone will come into the dealership with a low mile 08,09 GT wanting to trade it in on a 5.0 Mustang. Just my opinion. I was at my dealer this weekend, and someone just traded in an 08 Bullit with 456 miles on it, the dealer is "asking" for 25,500. The car is brand new, the guy who bought it, kept it in garage pretty much. I would think 23,000 to 24,000 is not insulting, if you gotta have a bullitt

The guy most likely drove off the dealers lot with a new 5.0. Dealer probably got it from him for around 22,000 or less. As for insulting a car salesman it just ain't possible.

I appreciate the replies. Like I said earlier, I have pretty much gotten over the "Bullitt fever" and am looking at used GT's. I did find a 2005 S281 Saleen in my area with 45,000 miles for $23,000. I'm not making any moves for another 6 weeks or so, but want to know all the options available to me so I make an intelligent decision, not another "impulse" buy. I hate those, don't you?
