I actually do remember Butch wax, tried to use it when I wanted a flat top but my hair didn't cooperate.

I guess I would be a 9. I can barely remember number 11, I had a great aunt that lived in Franklin NC and she would talk about that. She made some good chicken and dumplins. I sure do miss her...

Hmm, I remember having to pick up the phone and talk to an operator. I don't remember her name but she knew everyone and you just told her who you wanted to talk to. I remember asking to talk to my Dad..yep that's the way I said it and she connected me with Dad.
Also how about party lines? You pick up the phone and there was already a couple of people talking..

We had a party line growing up too until the 911 system started up. We also had a route number for an address instead of the street address.

I was talking to my Mom about it earlier and she couldnt remember the name of the woman who ran it, but it was a switchboard system. I couldn't remember what it was called but she remembered it well.
I still say my Dad lives on RT2..that was it..no actual street address, the mailman just knew where everyone lived. Of course now he has an official address that I actually have written down because I cant remember it. lol
