Meeting a guy from Roanoke tomorrow to show the car.
Clint, Dana, do either of you have any input on what year range Wrangler to look at? I got Jen to agree on whateve r trans I find at a decent deal in good shape.

Jeff, for what you plan on spending there's a ton of them out there on Craigslist.... but IMO you should stick with the 4.0's. The YJ is 1987-1992 (square headlights) and the TJ is 1997-2006. Mine is a 1992 and I paid $5000... but ended up spending about $3000 on "getting it right"... new wheels and tires, new seat covers, new soft top, new bikini top... and then a lot of work to get it mechanically (and safety) sound...

I have that frick'n champagne taste, everyone that I see on CL that I like it about 10K. lol
Tj, the ride is better and they're generally in better shape since they're newer. My advice is be picky. Lots of them out there and about half of them are rusty, even if they claim they're not (ignorance is bliss right? ). I know of one that needs a new frame but the body is in great condition right now for 2600, 2000 tj with the 4.0, dark green and a tan soft top, 100 k miles but needs a new frame which can be had for 800-1000.
Thanks to your experience I will be trying to closely examine the brake lines too.
