Good luck finding a ride that matches your needs.

Jeff, are you looking for a TJ and in what price range?
There are tons of them around here.

Jeeps don't really depreciate that much. In the winter they are great for off road and bad weather capabilities and in the summer they are awesome because of the convertible.women like them because they are small and fairly easy to drive, guys like them because they are so damned fun, you have tons of aftermarket options, there are clubs and gtg's.
If you see something you like let me know and I will try to take a look for you.

My 97 was a 4 banger with an automatic. It had a lot of problems but then again it was the first of a complete redesign.
Axle seals, 2 transmissions, intake gaskets..All within 3000 miles. I called Chrysler and the said if I bought another one they would give me brand new retail for mine toward a new one. Basically they bought it back. I bought a 98 Sport and loved it. Great Jeep...then I saw the 99 on the showroom floor and well...you know.
If you are going to do any towing or upgrades to suspension..wheels tires etc. The 4 banger is probably not you best option. But it does OK if you just want to drive it.

I would prefer to get a TJ but I think that I'm going to end up going with a Cherokee or Grand Cherokee for now. My budget is tight and realistically i can't afford what I want right now. Plus the 2 nearly 6' "kids" probably wont fit in the back seat.

And I blew some of my budget on

12x20 deck to be built on the back of the house.

up..there

So, although I really want the top off, no doors fun of a Wrangler. I can pick up a XJ or WJ in stock form pretty cheap, put a couple of inches of lift under it and still be under budget.

Edit: damn it Dave, why are the TJ's so much cheaper around you? And now you got me rethinking whether the boys really need leg room or not. LOL

The boys are still young and flexible..lol
I'm telling ya man..TJ's are everywhere here. We get just enough bad weather for everyone to run out and buy a Jeep. I would guess that 90 % of the car lots..dealers or not..have at least one Jeep of some kind and year. I could probably find you a clean CJ if you wanted it.

found a decent YJ.

https://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/4609082388.html

That's about 45 minutes from me. A rough country 4" lift is only $500. I think the front springs on it are either sagging badly or they put those extra long shackles on for a little bit of lift.

This is the one that got away...maybe. Sale pending. I'm still holding out hope that the pending deal falls through.

I just talked it over with Jen and she seems to really want a Wrangler
