What are you working on?

So I had today off, figured I'd install the rocker guards Jeff sold me from his Jeep on ours. After running to two different stores and googling a few others I finally got all the hardware I needed and set to work. Started by taking this little deflector off.
Well to do that you remove three bolts....that all have rivet nuts. Needless to say they sized to the bolt threads with rust and spun instead of working. So I got the pliers out and got the first one off. Then the third, but the middle one they decided they'd mount it blind into the front torque box. No access or anything. So I whipped out the hole saw and made an access, figured I'd go buy a grommet and not worry about it.
Ended up not being able to grip the nut with pliers, or channel locks, or pliers being squeezed with channel locks. So I drug the welder out and said FU little ***** and tacked it. Upon which after tacking it, the screw turned two revolutions and snapped off.....whatever, it's off.
Now that it was off, I decided I'd hit a patch of rust with the grinder quick and spray some paint over it just to get rid of it. Figured it would be covered up with the new plates, and this way it couldn't "fester". Well low and behold, it had already been "festering". Nothing was there at all. Just rust and some paint holding it together.
So now I have a gaping hole in the side of the jeep, and partially in the bottom after I cleaned it up. It was packed full of fine sand, the kind you'd find if you say parked it in a giant mud puddle. Stupid PO. So what was a 2 hour job turned into this.
So now I've cut it all out and bought some sheet metal (thank God it is a jeep and all flat!) as well as some rattle can paint. I was going to put bedliner on it and stretch it up about 6" to run along the fender line but Jessie objected to rhino liner, after she had already gone into shock when she came home and saw a gaping hole. Tomorrow I'll weld in a piece or two and paint it all up, hopefully I can blend it back together. Good practice for the mustang, just figured it would be the other way around since this is her DD.

Damn Clint! Jessie must be afraid to leave you alone anymore. LOL
When I was shopping for a SUV for the pups there was a Nice little Jeep Liberty that I almost bought. But I looked underneath and saw the beginnings of some rust. Found out the Jeep was from Michigan, so I passed on it.
