Regarding the Jeep and the pinion nut. Took it to a diesel/ off-road shop and they "snugged" the nut up... not sure how confident I feel in that fix so I am currently at the house with the rear cover off. Things look ok inside. The spider gears are a litter chewed up but the Jeep has 168k on it. No big chunks missing out 9f the ring or pinion so I'm putting it back together, adding fresh fluid and hoping for the best. Oddly the old flid did not sMell like gear oil....wtf?
