Plasti dip
#28
I was looking at getting new wheels. I have 17" bullits now and like the retro style. Thought about painting the spokes, but keeping the lips polished. I think I'd rather get a larger, staggered set. Let me know how it turns out.

If you are just going with matte black Lowes usually has it. I think they have white too. But anything beyond that would have to be ordered.
Don't expect your first attempt to turn out perfect. There are a lot of little tricks I have learned using it but a lot is simple painting techniques except for one.
When you paint they always say to REMOVE any wax. Not so with Plastidip. Give it a good wax BEFORE you spray.
Make sure to remove any tape while the product is still wet..and I do mean wet..so plan your taping accordingly. Don't remove tape pulling back across the sprayed area.
If you get a great looking stripe but end up with a smudge right in the middle or a F&$&% fly lands in it or something don't panic. You can take some Naphta ( a paint thinner available at Lowes) and lightly rub the affected area. Just enough to remove the bad spot and still leave a smooth edge. Then respray and you are fixed.
If you are spraying a stripe put several coats but stay about an inch AWAY from your tape. That's right don't spray over to the tape yet. Get several coats on the center parts. Then spray your edges with several coats and peel your tape immediately.
This way you can get more coats on it without it drying against the tape and peeling as you remove the tape.
If you use a quick detailer you can use it over the plastidip. It will make it a deeper black and keep it soft and pliable. You can use a pressure washer (standard car wash or home) and it won't hurt it.
Any more questions just ask.
