Default Interesting idea for my 77' Jeep pickup

Looking at possibly turning it into a power hungry, corner carving machine. Like this..

Instead of the usual 4wd lifted truck with big tires. Now I have all the info to do that and the parts list researched for the lift etc. and to really make it stand in that aspect. But I'd like to do something different. So here is my thought or question for all of you.

What is the best solution for the rear end? I was looking at trailering arms with hotchkis suspension from a 72' C10. But keeping options open for a 3, 4-link rear suspension.

The front is a another ball game due to it being a solid front axle. And I would still like to keep 4wd so I will need to search out a viable alternative if I ditch the front solid axle. But I'm probably going to keep it for now if I go this route and until a another 4wd IFS unit is sourced. But any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here is my truck as it sits now.

Looks good the way it is IMO. Those old Jeep trucks are getting hard to come by. Especially ones that aren't rotted out.

I have another 76' shortbed donor truck that is solid besides not running but that is because parts of it's engine are being restored by my father-in-law. That was originally going to get the business and this one lifted. But I am truly torn.

Are you ever going to tow with it? I'd suggest air ride for the rear at least. I like the stance of slightly lowered trucks, something a bit more practical for street use while allowing it to function as a truck for hauling or the occasional dirt road/hunting trail. I think you'll be hard pressed to get an IFS setup and then get it lowered. Best bet would be to get a gm 1500 out of the junk yard and cut the frame, then weld it to your front end. That will be a lot of fab work to get everything bolted back up.

Hows the clearance between the SFA and the oil pan? You might have to jack up the engine and notch the frame to clear it, depending on how low you want it. Is it coil or leafs in the front now? I'm all for lowering it, probably not as low as the two you posted (from a feasibility stand point) but it's a cool idea.

The clearance is great as it is. It's leafsprung front as it sits right now.

I like the idea of just cutting the front end off of a 1500 and have it welded to the front. That's what they did with the second truck at Gas Monkey but with a Crown Vic front end.
