Default Looking for recommendations for family vacation at the beach in NC.

Planning on going to the beach for a few days for vacation, but unsure of where to go. We are looking for quiet and relaxing, no night life and not insanely busy.. (is it possible?) We have a 4 year old son that we want to bring to the beach for the first time and enjoy the aquarium as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We have never been to the beach here in NC so we aren't sure where to go.

I heard that it's extremely crowded in Wilmington... that's why I'm looking for suggestions.

Wilmington is the only place I've been in NC. Other than that we go to Myrtle Beach...

Hotel or camping? Chris and I went to Oregon Inlet last time we went, it was a lot of fun except for the damn sand burrs. Of course if your idea of roughing it is a hotel without room service camping might not be such a good idea.

I'd look at Carolina Beach. that's where we usually go because it's not as busy.

X2 on Carolina Beach. Friends go there every summer. Love it. We're planning on it next year. Much more laid back and less "touristy" than some of the other, more obvious coastal locales.

We are going to "rough" it in a hotel or vacation rental =). Wife doesn't care much for sleeping on the ground. I'll definitely look into it.

We came across a vacation rental on Emerald Isle for $650 for the week, might go with that. Still searching around. Nothing like waiting until the last minute as we will leave on Sunday lol.

Outer Banks is the place. You can get secluded, plenty of stuff to do without the usual beach crowd.
