I thought it might be cool/helpful to have a thread to discuss detailing products, techniques, etc. all in one place. Some people have lots of knowledge and experience and some people (myself included) are always trying to learn more so we can make our cars look as good as possible or avoid using products that do more harm than good or aren't needed. I did a search and didn't get any results for anything similar so hopefully people find this useful.

I'll start it off with the first question:

I'm not lucky enough for my Mustang to only be my weekend car so I drive it daily in all weather. I also don't currently have a garage to keep it in when at home. What technique and supplies do you use to clean the recessed area around the trunk opening? I'm talking about that area where the hinges are and where all kinds of dirt and leaves collect. I typically try to just cram my rags in there as well as I can but the results leave a lot to be desired.

I have a small car detailing brush that I clean it with. I spray a lot of detail spray and get it nice and loose (lol) and theb get it off with that. Mine is my DD as well and once you get it prettu clean the first time, after that just a quick clean.

For hard to reach areas I sometimes will use a cloth wrapped around something like a bamboo skewer.

Another question more for the northern guys.

I'm gonna go over the jeep for probably the first time ever with a polisher. I know I have a lot of scratches and nicks but my main concern is on the hood. I think what happened is that it got a lot of rock chips, and then during the winter water got in the chip and froze, making a little bubble in the paint. Am I screwed on this? I don't mind painting but If I'm gonna do that I'll need to get the right equipment instead of rattle can it since it would be a much larger area.

Pretty much screwed when paint bubbles Clint. Not much we can do other than sand it down and repaint. I have the equipment, I have finished a lot of furniture over the years. I have never painted a car but would be willing to help out if you want it.
