Anyone ever replaced a driveshaft carrier bearing?

Depends on the dealer. The one I go to is a Roush certified service center as well so they are a bit more forgiving on mods and don't just automatically say "oh your aftermarket part caused the failure"
Check to see if the dealer you are planning on going to is first. Any of their service advisors should be able to answer that off the top of their heads.

I brought the car to Crossroads Ford in Indian Trail since it's about 15 minutes away. I'm not positive, but I think Ft Mill Ford might be the next closest at about 45 minutes away.
That being the incorrect name for the part makes me feel better simply because I was losing my mind trying to find it and make sense of how that could be the problem. So the whole drive shaft has to be replaced, huh? That's a bummer. But I guess it explains why the part was going to cost over $600.

Only pain in the butt part is that it's all done with a box wrench. I think 4/6 bolts can't have a conventional ratchet. Ratcheting wrenches maybe, but I've screwed myself over and gotten it jammed, had to wait 4 days for a new bolt to come in. Also I recommend getting a tap for the pinion flange threads, lots of loctite from the factory. Shaftmaster's actually recommends it.
