Default Going Forced Induction

Ok, most of you know I have a 2014 3.7L, and for a while I have had my eye on the Limitless performance Turbo kit, and at 4500 its on the cheaper side of most of the kits out there. Now the question is, how much cheaper is it, if I was to put one together? What kind of turbo would I go with, intercooler, piping, headers and all of that? I know next to nothing about piecing them together, and what will work/what is needed compared to what isnt. This isn't something that will probably get done anytime soon, but if it is significantly cheaper than just buying the lpf turbo, I can probably buy pieces of it here and there as I get the extra money.

Unfortunately with newer cars piecing the kit together isn't much of an option. Not enough builders make manifolds that you can buy separate unless you are going with a rear mounted setup.

So components you need are....
turbo
manifolds
exhaust y pipe
coolant lines
oil lines
blow off valve
down pipe
charge pipe
intercooler

Most of the piping will be custom. So unless you are going to fab it you will be paying a lot more to get all those components made up. Also it's your DD right? Bolt on kit is the way to go.

Why turbo instead of procharger or vortec?

Yeah, I wouldn't piece one together either. If you don't get a kit then i would say take it to a shop that can piece a custom kit together for you.

Also, +1 on the centri SC question....

Well because the lpf turbo system is about 1000 cheaper than anything else I have seen, and from what I have heard, seen on videos it is amazing pulling out 450-480 hp, just like the superchargers. The only big advantage for me with a supercharger I guess would be I can use my long tube headers I have, and I have yet to install them anyway.

I'm skeptical of turbo kits on the newer cars because of the greater increase for failures. These engines dont tolerate abuse in the FI form very well. That being said, are you installing it yourself? If not then ask the shop you plan on using their opinion, or at least ask the tuner you plan on using.

Well prodyno is my closest shop that does that sort of thing, the only tunes I have ever felt with is the email bama tunes. As soon as I get my full exhaust done I'm going to let prodyno dyno tune it.

If you are still considering the turbo in the next year I'd hold off on the exhaust. Talk to pro dyno about the kit and see what he says about it. I know he wasn't too impressed with the tt helion kit.

I will still probably do the exhaust first, since the turbo is looking like it may be one of those things to hold off on for now, I may indeed end up having to go with a procharger or somthing like that, which I'm not totally against, but it was just more expensive. In that case it will probably be at least a year before I dive into that kind of investment.

Not too sure about that turbo kit, I'm calling BS on the install time. 4-5 hours? It takes 8
to install headers on the gt, I don't imagine the v6 is that much faster.

Headers don't look that they would be that hard on the v6, there is so much room to get to them because I don't have that massive 5.0 engine, I can easily see them from the top. So if you had a lift, it shouldnt take more than a few hours at most, it doesnt seem like the nightmare all the gt's have shared with headers. I'll take a pic of my engine bay and let you see what you think.
