Ok here is the deal. We have our route set pretty much up to the point we are staying. It comes down to extra driving for more dinner options or giving in to fatigue and staying where it is convenient. With that said are options are:
1. Stay in Pounding Mill (Richlands) which is about 10 minutes away. We'd be there around 4. This is just my opinion having not been there, but I couldn't find much in the way of food since we'd be eating dinner there. On sunday we'd have the option of taking a few more twisties to go home before the group starts splitting up.

2. Bristol, get there around 5. Lot more options for food and hotels, plus we could take the snake back out, basically a repeat of what we did on sat in reverse.

3. Wytheville, get there around 5. Again more food and hotel choices, but unless we go out of our way it will be a fairly straight shot home for most since it's on i77.

Opinions?

You know what it's like giving this group options don't you?

I'm for giving in to fatigue, eating Mexican in Richlands, adult beverages at the hotel and taking new twisties home. 610 out of Richlands to 91 looks to be a lot of fun.

Charlotte to Boone to Tazewell to Bristol is about 300 miles. That's quite a haul.

Mmmmm....Mexican.

Anywho, I also like the idea of seeing/driving different things since I haven't been to any of these. But I'll happily do any of the options.

I'm all for keeping the trek reasonable, from a distance perspective. Those of us that have a lengthy drive just to get to the beginning of the trek will already be fairly taxed. Not worried so much about dining choices. If there's food, I'm sure I'll find something I like. I'm for whichever route offers the most efficient use of time/distance. Just my 2 Lincolns.

Oh, and preferably with a Marriott nearby. Sorry lol. My stay will be free. Kind of hard to justify staying somewhere else. 😉

I like option #2 going to Bristol, VA/TN... there's a lot of places to stay and tons of restaurants. Then on day #2 head up I-81 past Abingdon, VA then going back to Mtn City, TN via Hwy 58 then Hwy 91.... Here's the link:

OR on day #2 from Bristol take Hwy 11E to Hwy 37 to Elizabethton, TN then Hwy 321 to Boone, NC...

All routes are pretty curvy and very scenic...this is just another option.... I just don't want to get on the hwy and drive to Wytheville, VA...Just one man's opinion!

From the end of Back of the Dragon Wytheville is actually 30 miles closer than Bristol. For those that wanted to get home early it is a straight shot down 77 or we could take 21 back through Sparta to 77 just above Statesville. Like Dana said, many options.
