Someone wants to trade me... opinions?
OK, So I have the wife's 66 Coupe for sale. Guy on craigslist wants to trade me straight up for his 69 Cougar. I would probably just flip it, but it looks to be a pretty sharp car. Think I should?
My 66 Coupe:
For this 1969 Cougar:
What engine does that look like to you? a cleveland? Looks like a big block to me...
Thanks for the opinions, friends.

Rust bucket is an endearing term...they are all rust buckets. Even if they 'technically' don't have rust
You wanted to sell the car. Trading for another car nets you zero gain and you have gone from a car that you know most/all the issues with to a new car that you know nothing about.

I forgot why you were selling the sixxer... If it was money or the classic "too many cars" (which we all get into from time to time), then stick to your guns and sell it.
I am trying to discipline myself with a simple rule. If I have to store whatever classic I am drooling over outside, then I don't buy it.
If you were selling it b/c the better half lost interest, then ****ing A go for the cougar.

I say do it. Side by side in new condition, the Cougar is a better made vehicle.
Ask youself a few Qs:
Will she drive it? And if so, daily, or weekends?
Is gas consumption a real issue?
The Cougar has a more powerful drivetrain and is a more comfortable car, overall. After the newness wears off, if you had both cars in the driveway every day, which one would you (she) want to get in every time you go for a drive?
Good luck. It's cool that the center console, shifter and armrests are the same on both 69 Cougar and Mustang. They share many parts, but I didn't know about the console. If the Cougar needs anything, it may be available through a Mustang vendor or club.
Good luck. Let us know what happens.

Also, this seems, with all due respect to your Mustang, to be a trade down for him. Why would he do that?
What's under that vinyl top, for instance?
PS - For the love of God, get a black top for the COugar if you get it.

It's a 351 from the looks of it. The scoop is totally wrong and the wing is an add on. Trying to look like an Eliminator. Deal smells fishy, why would someone trade a 69 V8 for a 66 six. I'd suspect something (like rust, motor or tranny trouble) with the cougar.
Unless you want it, I'd pass.

It's a no brainer...
Trade for the Cougar, noawwww.
Even if there was no engine an tranny, lol.
It does sound a bit fishy I agree, but the car has so much more potential.
And yes, it's got a 351W.
The valve covers and thermostat housing give it away.
