Default General Question Re: 1966 Restoration Project

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on doing some work on my 1966 Mustang convertible. It is a 289 V8 with a four barrel carb. There is a little noise in a lifter I believe and I am thinking about taking out the engine this winter and doing some work on the car, flipping it over, etc. I noticed when I got the car it has cobra on the valve covers but the engine code is a code C and not code K. Is it better to keep the engine original to the vin or would it be better to leave the cobra valve covers on? And, also, could you please tell me how to know if it has cobra heads?

The engine tag by the carb says: 289 E 66 Ford
G 236-T 12
The tag is attached to the intake manifold.

VIN: 6F08C727182
76C Z 36 25G 33 Axle: 6 Trans: 6

I will try to post some photos under my profile for more information.
Thank you to anyone who replies and sorry if this is the wrong place to ask a general question such as this, Brian

hey guys im thinking about buying a 69 mustang grande its got a 302 in it but the guy said the car hasnt ran in 2 years and last time it did run it had a rod knock so its going to need to be rebuilt or swapped out. the body is pretty solid it has a little rust on the lower fenders but nothing that cant be fixed and of course it needs a paint job. the guy wants $2000 for the car. i want to know that the car will be worth it because i will be getting rid of my daily driver just so i can buy it so i will be driving my truck as a daily driver. i want to know if the mustang grande is a rare car. you guys think its worth it?

hey guys im thinking about buying a 69 mustang grande. it has a 302 and the guy said the car hasnt ran in 2 years and it had a rod knock so it will need to be rebuilt or swapped. the body seems like its pretty solid just needs a paint job and the interior is in pretty good shape for the year the headliner is hanging down but hes got a new one that will go with the car. anyways he wants 2 grand for the car and i just want to know how rare that car is and if its worth putting a lot of money into because i will be getting rid of my daily driver to get the car and ill be using my truck as my daily driver. It is an automatic and i would like to convert it to a manual 4 or 5 speed if that is possible if so what type of transmission would you recommend?

Go ahead and create a new thread in this forum and ask your questions

On the top left Click New Thread

Post pictures of the car if so. Also a popular conversion would be a T5 transmission you will find many write ups on this.
