Default Dealer GT's

I have read that dealer could convert regular stangs to GT's with parts from ford. This could/was done to cars that were not A or K codes, making it available for anyone to have a GT.

Has anyone heard of this.

Yes, I've heard that you could have the dealer convert you're Mustang to a GT clone, but it's really not a real GT. Unfortunately there's really no way to tell whether or not it's a factory GT without the original window sticker, although there is a test that has something to do with an additional hole drilled into the rear frame rail.

i know after late 67 it was cheaper (from about $63 to $51) to paint the le mans stripes on at the dealeship than by shelby, so most le mans stripes after mid 67 are dealer added if its not a full blown shelby
