Default 12 months later - ready to leave for paint!

Last December I took off the front valance to clean up the turn signals. Any of you who have been around this past year know what that led to. But here she is! All the body repairs are done. Old aluminum and heavy bondo patches replaced by patch panels. Dings gone. All the trim removed. They pick it up Tuesday morning. The valances and fender extensions are reinstalled with spacers to keep the paint from filling in the joints. They will check everything over and probably do some more work to fix anything they don't like. They will clean it, seal it and shoot with with the original single stage color. They also do the color sanding and buffing. This is not going to be a show car paint job. It is going to be a nice paint job, probably as good as the factory original. I know taking it all down to metal and covering with new self etching primer and all would be the ultimate, but that is not what the plan was. I am not restoring this car. I am repairing it. This paint should look good and it should last for years.
The cost will be somewhere between $800 and $1,600 depending on how much work they have to do pre-paint. I don't know if that includes the cost of the paint. Single stage should not be too bad.

Congrats! Can't wait to see pics of it all in color. About how long did they say before it would be finished?

Haha, I know the feeling moonweasel, I hope you know that red oxide will not stop moisture from getting to your sheet metal.

Congrats Jim, I remember when you started tearing it it down, kind of reminded me of what I did with my car! All I wanted to do was restore my trunk...

I hope it all turns out great, I'm sure it will

Thats fantastic! The paint seems to be THE thing in every restoration and for good reason. It takes so long to get there. Looks like you'll be back on the road in no time now!

We hope for paint sometime in March. A month away from the car and then another 2 months before its back on the road for us I'd say. Would be sweet to have it on the road in May but so much to do I figure early June sometime.
